Victoria Street Development, Grimsby

This scheme focuses on a site at the junction of Frederick Ward Way and Victoria Street in Grimsby. The proposal provides 48 apartments on the upper floors with 3 showrooms on the ground floor.

The building proposes a ‘harder’ mix of solid wall and lighter facades forming winter gardens fronting onto Frederick Ward Way and Victoria Street with a ‘softer’ inner elevational treatment of glazing and balconies overlooking the courtyard to the south and west.

The glazed frontage at ground level is recessed behind the brickwork with a projecting terracotta skin to create a more successful junction with the ground level and allow for feature lighting within the soffit created. Windows are cut into the terracotta facade and are ordered with intermittent projecting bays facing both roads. The roof of the development takes a butterfly form with a high quality metal roof cladding. Wrapped beneath the roof are white cladding panels that run the length of the development.
