Walnut Farm, Winteringham
Walnut Farm Cottage is a listed building within the boundary of the Wintringham Conservation Area and is in a poor state of repair.
Hodson Architects were approached by the Youthbuild Academy who have purchased the site and are using it to train youngsters in conservation techniques. They are working with Fleur Gordon, conservationist and North Lincolnshire planning department to ensure that the project is executed as an exemplar scheme.
The existing building is L shape on plan with a hipped roof to the main structure. It is faced in stonework with brick quoins at some corners. The proposed extension provide a single storey family room, garden store and a utility room. These timber-clad extensions are separated from the main structure via glazed links allowing a visual distinction between the elements.
The proposals to the existing cottage will bring back a neglected and disused building into use by reinstating its original character and materials.
