The Settlement, Caistor

The Old Papershop, a former newsagents and a Grade II Listed Georgian property, sits in the traditional market square in Caistor, Lincolnshire. It has recently been converted into a bar and restaurant named "The Settlement", a reference to the town’s Roman origins.

The project began in September 2009, when locals, Mark & Jo Hodson, directors of Hodson Architects and builder Martin Merrigan of Malbuild, purchased the derelict building, which had become a visual and an emotional metaphor for the need to regenerate the town.

Hodson Architects have worked closely with English Heritage and the local planning department to recreate and restore the original features.
