Eco-housing development, Heighington

The scheme provides 10 houses including a terrace of 7 houses which utilise solar gain through large south facing conservatories and the incorporation of thermal mass creating ‘heat stores’. A photovoltaic array spans the terrace allowing for on site production of electricity.

4 timber-clad workshops are provided for use by the inhabitants to incorporate ‘live/work’ opportunities within the scheme. Car parking and recycling facilities are provided within an open timber clad ‘shed’ structure defining the length of the western boundary. Existing hedging and trees to the north and eastern boundaries are supplemented by new planting to create natural screening and protect the development from the prevailing wind.

A palette of high quality materials including brick, black stained timber and clay pantiles inspired by the vernacular of Lincolnshire farmsteads gives the scheme cohesion and will add to the character of the village.
