Eco-village, Humberston
Our aim is to create a housing scheme which adopts many of the factors which characterise a sustainable housing project within a form which accords with its rural setting and strong sense of vernacular tradition.
All of the houses are simple vernacular forms with pitched roofs. They are arranged to create a 'village -like' atmosphere allowing for good daylighting, views and private garden areas. Traditional Lincolnshire house forms were frequently only a single room in depth giving the benefit of a dual aspect to main habitable rooms, as proposed within our scheme. These simple rectangular forms are extended by 'lean-to' additions as is the vernacuar tradition.
