Lonsdale Community Centre, Hull

The main focus of the scheme is to reorder the entrance to the centre from the west to link with the existing car park to the east and the pedestrian/cycle access to Anlaby Road. This will give the centre a more visible presence and eliminate the congestion problems currently experienced within the centre entrance from Lonsdale Street, a narrow residential dead-end road. The two storey extension proposed will sit on an area of the existing local authority owned car park.

The extension has facing brickwork between ground and first floor levels providing a robust surface. This wall also secures and defines the boundary to the external play area of the crèche. At first floor level the walls are clad with coloured panels and windows and doors will match the colours of the cladding. The roof, which slopes down from the eaves of the existing building and has a deep overhang to the car park elevation, is also covered with proprietary cladding panels.
